SCHOTT Completes Acquisition of QSIL GmbH

SCHOTT has successfully completed the acquisition of QSIL GmbH Quarzschmelze Ilmenau, marking a milestone in its strategic growth. By solidifying its position in the semiconductor industry, SCHOTT reaffirms its commitment to delivering critical high-performance materials and technologies that enable innovations, from artificial intelli-gence to autonomous systems.

With the integration of QSIL GmbH Quarzschmelze Ilmenau’s state-of-the-art quartz glass production facility and its workforce of approximately 275 employees, SCHOTT is poised to accelerate innovation and scale production to meet the rising demand for high-performance microchips.

Quartz glass hollow cylinders are essential for producing components like wafer carri-er parts for etching processes and flanges for process tubes. Components made from quartz glass ensure precision and stability in microchip manufacturing by facilitating clean and efficient processing.

Their high purity and design flexibility enhance plasma etching performance while re-ducing material waste. This makes them indispensable in semiconductor production.
